Pediatric ENT doctor in Lima, Peru

Dr. Florez sees babies, children and teenagers in English, with explanations for parents and an approach adapted to each age.

Common reasons for a visit

  • Ear infections that keep coming back, or fluid behind the eardrum.
  • Snoring, pauses in breathing during sleep or mouth breathing.
  • Large adenoids or tonsils, and repeated throat infections.
  • Hearing concerns, a failed newborn hearing screening or delayed speech.
  • A foreign object in the nose or ear.
  • Hoarseness or voice problems.

Tests in the office

Ear endoscopy, tympanometry and, when needed, a flexible nasal endoscopy to see the adenoids. For babies and young children who cannot do a regular hearing test, auditory steady-state evoked potentials can estimate hearing.

Surgery when it is needed

Many problems start with medical treatment. When surgery is needed, options include ear tubes, adenoid and tonsil surgery, and endoscopic nasal or ear surgery adapted to the child’s size. Surgery always requires an evaluation first.

This page is for information only and does not replace a medical evaluation. Any surgery requires an evaluation first.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does my child need antibiotics for every ear infection?

Not always. Many ear infections improve on their own. The decision depends on the child’s age and symptoms.

When is snoring a concern?

If your child snores most nights, has pauses in breathing, restless sleep or daytime tiredness or behavior changes, an evaluation is a good idea.
